A potential hazard could be, the film crew/workers stepping on the green screen cloth for it to fall and get damaged.
 Green screen

High risk because that can be accidental.

Proposal/Implementation plan

Task 6: Proposal

Introduction:
Hello my name is Michael Adofo and our company, Urban magnetic is located in Sidcup and specialises in making Idents. Our aim is purely to meet your objectives and maximize your profits as my company will exceed your expectations. I hope that my proposal or idea will be good enough to give me the chance to be able to pitch to you.
Urban magnetic is branding a new exciting youth channel called Urban magnetic where they're energizing brand new content that urban net intends to show on their website. Ident will be.The Ident will be about 15-25 seconds long stop motion ident animation. The concept and script shall be provided by the client in English. It will be a new exciting ident which will appeal to the intended audience.

The target audience  will be young people around the ages 16-25 in college, university or even working because it's a youth channel with that shows youthfully content will target mostly males. This will be targeted at mainly the white ethnicity so I'll be looking at electronic type of songs. The socio group I'll be looking at are group D, E, C.

An Ident is a moving image or logo that is used to represent a known brand. Most Idents are usually about 30s in duration.
The Reason to why we have television idents is because they are generally designed in such an usual way to give some sort of announcement to the channel your watching.
When representing known brands some Ident companies will have their own logo which gives the brand a unique image.
Another reason to why we have Idents are so we know what programme is going to come on next.
What I like about Idents are the fact that they are moving images so the visuals are stimulating which makes it much easier to understand what the narrator is talking about.

Outline of the advert: Two groups of people (Plasticine) pulling the two magnets apart that were stuck together. Once it's apart both winners hold up their magnets. The U’ and ‘N’ standing for Urban net to promote the logo
Extra detail: the rope is a magnet, attracting each other. (it's like tug of war)
Process: We will be making draft storyboards setting up for film and pop creation for the 15s clip. We will have storyboard templates to help us with our drafts. Setting up the green screen will help a lot instead of filming outdoor.

Colour: The color conventions are mostly going to be red and black, reason being is because the title is urban magnetic and a magnetic is red and black which that promotes my brand logo, of the u and Ns being magnets.
Music: From my research they would like electronic as the audience like my previous idents/adverts. Hip-hop was also suggested but my main is to find a universal type of song everyone can dance to.

The format will be in YouTube high definition (HDV) 1080p

The editing will be fast paced as 15 seconds is not a long time, and having the clip fast paced will keep the audience captivated as youths, their attention spam is short.
This would also be stop motion only as we haven't been taught digitally animated idents.

Location: I'll be using the green screen with Urban things around it also for my contingency plan if the green screen doesn't work then I'll get a cardboard and draw out a city to as my background.
Running time/Duration: In terms of how long, I'll be shooting for. It will be for an hour in the scheduled times.

Filming dates and times: filming will start on the 12th of may on a Thursday. I will also be filming on Tuesday the 17th of may from period 1 to 3. On the 19th of may is when I'll also be filming in period 1.
It will be distributed on three different Platforms. They'll be distributed on my personal management blog, my weebly where it will be examined and lastly but not least YouTube as it's where most of the target audience are occurred.

Resources: Items required for my ident is 3 tubs of Plasticine which is £20, and a board which is £5 for my background in case green screen doesn't work  that's for my contingency plan. The total adds up to £25.

Production Equipment would be handed to me by my client. They consist of things like cameras, tripods,
My client will provide me with the necessary equipment to go about my filming. Hand held camera with a stand for still shots.

Thank you
Producer

Task 5: Annotation

Task 5a)

What is the intended outcome of target audience research?
My intended target audience outcome of target audience are the youth around the ages of 16-25. As hopefully from my research it would be show me from my Survey monkey social media and the focus group we did.

Intended outcome of the focus group?
The Intended outcome of the focus group in class was obviously to improve on our idea. We held a focus group to get more ideas and develop on our idea(s). Which was after I made my survey monkey.

Intended outcome of the survey monkey?
I think it's to get precise answers on what to improve on specifically and especially because our idea was the rough stage so we had use the survey monkey to get a good insight.
My target audience are youth around the ages of 16-25. As my research has shown me. This was both my survey monkey, social media and the focus group.

Task 1

Task 1:

Write your own Brief: Pass Task 1a)

The product I am producing is a new Ident for a YouTube Channel Similar to BBC 3s Idents. My idea is similar to the BBC 3 student’s ident.

Idea 1. Two groups of people pulling a circular sort of rope in other words playing tug of war with a rope and it rips and becomes ‘U’ and an ‘n’ standing for Urban Net to promote the Logo.

Idea 2: Similar to BBC 3s No.2 (ENSFC Stop Motion Animation), where the theme of theirs is games, the snake game. What I’m adapting/taking from theirs is the theme (games) but using a different game instead of snakes. A game called PAC man where the board will be made out of Plasticine. Someone’s head basically covered in a colored sheet with holes in the eyes and mouth just chasing the ‘UN’.
Who is the existing audience it’s aimed at?
Age: 16-25 not teenagers, mainly aimed at the youths and university students.
Gender: male and female.
Ethnicity: All ethnicity
Subculture: Either Hip Hop or Electronic. (Still deciding)

My Initial Idea:  Idea 1. Two groups of people pulling a circular sort of rope in other words playing tug of war with a rope and it rips and becomes ‘U’ and an ‘n’ standing for Urban Net to promote the Logo.

Monday, 18 April 2016

Write your own Brief:
PASS TASK Write your own brief for Urban Net – what is your idea?
My idea is similar to the BBC 3 students ident. They're idea was basically a snake game where they're was a group of people in a line and every time they ate the 3 another person adds onto the line. With they're idea I'll be developing it as they're theme was a computer game called snakes and I''ll be turning mine into a different computer game called Pac man.
I'll be having someone's head in a maze sort of thing trying to catch the 3s in the maze without the ghost catching them.

My other idea is Urban net. Starts off with some oval roe sort of thing and two groups have a tug of war and eventually it rips and becomes a U and a N.
Who is the existing audience it is aimed at? age - 16-25
gender- male and female
ethnicity- it will be aimed at all ethnicity
Music- electronic musing will be used

Evaluation

Evaluation: Michael Adofo
The Brief
You have been commissioned by the marketing agency ‘Don’t Panic’ to create a 30 second Viral Video Advert that creates Buzz for the ‘Random Acts of Kindness 2016’ campaign targeting 16-25 College Students and University Students. Your Viral Ad should follow the ASA regulations, be aware of copyright and trademark issues, and have a clear ‘positive’ narrative and message: to ‘Pass it On’ and encourage the audience to take part during campaign, and share the Ad with their networks to make it viral.
Feedback:
Client: Overall I got really positive feedback from my client, he enjoyed it especially the cutting to the beat as they were precise. My only let downs was my client said that there was too many cross dissolves. From that comment I went and made adjustments to my advert. Also the advert itself couldn’t hit my client’s criteria as he said that he couldn’t see anything unusual, taboo, and remarkable in the advert which in other words suggests that it lacked the six element of buzz. In the beginning he mentioned how my choice of music was too fixed on a specific genre. After watching my advert the 2nd time he changed his mind and said that really and truly it does appeal to 16-25 year olds.

Target Audience: My advert was targeting 16-25 College Students and University Students. I posted on my friends Instagram as he had many followers. Most of the comments were about how they enjoyed the music. One comment mentioned how in the beginning I looked suspicious with my hood up. I decided to have it set out like that to emphasise that the guy in the hoodie could be anyone suggesting that anyone can do something nice for someone.

Peers: My peers for my advert are the people that watched it on my YouTube channel. And they are young people from my class that fit in the age group in contrast to the brief in other words that were in the target audience. My peers said they really enjoyed the music that played in the background of the advert as well and that they would share this advert on their Facebook for people to see.  One comment said that they believe the element of viral buzz this advert falls under is the remarkable and the camerawork which helped the narrative of the advert flow well without stopping. Finally what they said I could improve is how you transition the title of ''Random Acts of Kindness''.

Self-Evaluation: After watching my advert a couple times the Technical strength of my advert is the idea itself as I came up with it. The camera we used had great lighting with a stable stand. My edit in my point of view looked skilful as it didn’t look all clunky and out of place. It looked realistic as the editing were invisible. For example the transitions I used was the fades and one or two dissolves as having too many cuts will look a bit boring and won’t keep the audience interested. Beat editing was another technique to keep the audience captivated. There was quite a few of them, with every beat there was something happening that went in time with the beat. Another reason for why editing was essential is it’s the creation of narrative space and to the establishment of narrative time, reason being was to make everything make sense.  The relationship between shots may the use of editing techniques. Having a stable stand makes the 180 deg rule look professional so all the camera angles and shots were set and looked really good. Lots of different shots, camerawork and different techniques were used in the advert for example there was close-ups, 180 deg rule and match on actions used during the advert. 180 deg was appropriate as when the character is walking towards us on the right so he had to come out on the right. In an eye-line match, which I used was a shot of a character looking at something cuts to another shot showing exactly what the character sees.

The narrative itself is simple, makes sense and you can pass it on. The original plan was using nice trainers instead of the jacket but we didn’t come prepared with spare trainers on the day. It starts off with a suspicious looking dude heading towards us making the audience intimidated as the character is walking towards us. Walks into the library to ‘randomly’ put a fiver or so inside a book with a note saying pass it on. As the audience we know it’s been planned as nothing is shown about him writing on the note.  Eventually the second character comes but this time goes to look a book to study or read he see the money with the note, takes the money and looks at the note. Comes in next day with a new jacket. This tells us the first one passed it on and did something kind for another person.  The editing in the advert tells us the narrative is in a linear fashion with fast pace cuts and editing.

Professionalism: The lighting, and steady camera look good you see that in the beginning where the guy in the hoodie walks towards you and another shot of him coming out on the same side without the camera being moved. The use of sound with the images was precise as my client advised me to cut it to the beat, which I had quite a few of that. Our costume was one of our major let down as we wore black clothing and shoes but we were able to improvise to make ourselves look like university students by having the character holding a pile of books in one arm/hand and a holding a book in the other hand. The first character did kind of have a meaning as we didn’t do it intentionally but the meaning was with him wearing all black with a hoodie gives an impression that he’s going to do something bad.

Next time: What I would do differently next time is have jot down what to bring on the day of when we are shooting as notes come in handy. We also should have looked for an appropriate or even better location than the college as the brief asked for it to be university students which if I had done that then I probably would have reached a greater target audience. Next time I should use more and professional special effects and in my current advert I only used one and having looked at my peers adverts they used the special effects which caught my attention. As stated before, If I have had taken more shots it would have benefited me a lot which is something I should look out for next time.

Unit 22

Task 2:
3 existing current examples of Idents or Music video.

Ident 1.

Ident 2.

Ident 3

Task 2a)
Idents- An Ident is a moving image or logo that is used to represent a known brand.

Purpose of Idents:
Stand out from crowd or competition.
To sell the channel to us the viewers
Re-branding or re-packaging ident to keep up to date with time period
Make viewers aware of what they are watching
Link to Programme shown after.

Conventions & Similarities in all 3 example:
Ident 1 and 3 are really similar. The tempo is near enough the same if not then you could ident 3 is a little faster. With both of them you can determine by the music instead of looking at the images/cuts etc.
Ident 1 is more informative than 3 as ident 1 actually tells us the programme that's going to be shown next meanwhile ident 3, is purely for entertainment as there is nothing said.

We are going to adapt the detail animation we have seen by using stop motion.

Proposal: Random Acts of Kindness pay it forward day 2016.

Proposal: Random Acts of Kindness pay it forward day 2016.
Deadline: February 26th 2016.
Point- so people can follow the trend.
Requirement of the brief is to create a 30 second viral advert. We are looking at young people at the ages of 16-25 either male of female, and in college or university. Socio group, we would be looking at D/E maybe C if they are working. Targeted at Explorers and Reformers.
The four key messages are to inspire the young people, bring a positive attitude to the world, anyone can bring positive change and last but not least it has to be passed on.

A synopsis of my advert:

Beginning: Random guy goes library puts £10 in a book with a note saying pass it on

Middle: Boy/Girl saving up for trainers. goes library and finds a book with money and a note saying pass it on.

End: shows off his trainers but then goes library to put money in a book with a note saying £10

Persuasive Techniques: My advert has a couple persuasive techniques. It's ALTRUISM , helping people and the society. It will also go viral because it's UNUSUAL and CREATIVE as you wouldn't really think of hiding money in a book hoping for someone to find and take it. HUMOUR as the boy shows off his trainers by doing a little dance or so. I want the audience to respond by performing their own random act of kindness. It meets the requirements of the brief as it's suppose to be passed on and my advert does that quite well.

Resources and logistics:
I only need two actors, either boy or girl saving up money for trainers and a random person putting money in a book with a note. Props would be the note saying pass it on. Costumers and people in the background will not be needed unless we want the advert to sell.

Feedback:
Overall the feedback from my peers was really positive and promising, They said it addresses the key message very well and that the highlighting part was they mentioned how they can relate because most teens spend their money on trainers

Ethical and legal considerations:
The ASA (advertising standards authority) are a regulatory body group who monitor standards within the advert industry and to assure that the adverts comply with the requirements that they be legal, truthful and decent. My advert meets their requirements, it's not offensive.

Platforms, where it will be distributed: My advert will be shown on facebook as this social media platform is well known by everyone. It will also be on youtube, instagram and snapchat. Reason being is because most teens use them social medias and it's aimed at them so it will be a very good way of getting the point across. I want the audience to have a raised eye brow sort of response and think about the campaign and what they could do to help someone.

Advert:
Character Breakdown- Unknown person and a teenage boy
Location will be in the LRC, best facility as it looks like a library and it's less stress in having to go else where to get permission work out times to shoot and so on. Another location would be living room.
Costume: Boy would have to be looking like a uni student so the props he would have on him would be a bag and couple book he'll be holding.

Monday, 15 February 2016

Unit 2: Script

Video:
  Audio:
Wide: Young teenage boy looking at trainers that he wants. (Match on Action/Eye line matching of him looking at the trainers.)

Establish shot: of the campus, Christ the king.

Mid-shot: of a tall looking man walking down a long halfway to the Library (LRC). Wearing a coat. Looking all serious and intimidating. Looks back to see if he’s being  followed.
Close-up: of a black wallet, with a £10 note inside along with pen paper all in his hand. To show the audience that this close-up is important. This would be near the study room.

Medium shot: of man looking around all suspiciously, makes the audience feel like this person is not a good guy.  Looking for a suitable but also well known book.
Close-up: of man putting £10 note inside a book and writing “take this but do the same” In capitals below saying “pass it on”

Wide: young teenage boy standing in the living room looking at the empty jar with a label on it saying “savings”.
Medium close-up: of the boy reaching for pocket to put couple coins in the jar.

Wide: of boy in the library looking for a spot and a book to read.
Medium close-up:  library to find a reading book to revise after a long day. Seeing the money in the book, takes it to a...
Close-up: facial expression, showing that he’s overwhelmed to see that.
Eye-line matches to show that what he’s reading which is “the pass it on” the note.

Medium close-up: buying the shoes in a sports shop where they sell sports things.
Long shot: boy on his way to the library again to do the pass it on challenge.
Close-up (tracking movement): of the trainer that he wanted to buy.
Medium shot: of him with a note and paper going to do the same thing.
Fade: Writing showing you pass it on

SFX
Uplifting music, busy crowd. Students talking. Birds chirping. Wind blown.

SFX
Footsteps of people walking and talking.
Traffic in the background. Cars beeping horns.
SFX
Footsteps, bit of wind in the background to show audience why he had an umbrella on him.

Eerie music, Leaving audience wondering what he’s going to do.

SFX
Eerie music, door being closed.

SFX
Pages fluttering. Some writing something (sound effect)

SFX
Instrumental music (thinking)

SFX
Coins being dropped in the jar. Couple one and two pounds. Mum shouting in the background to come help clean up. Radio playing in the background.

SFX
An uplifting instrumental to make the audience feel happy with him about his surprise.

SFX
No natural sound should be present as the trainers is about to be shown. When it’s shown that’s when we can chip in “winning lottery” sound or something.

Task 5 written summary. Homework:
Campaign: Random Act of Kindness I have been commissioned by the marketing consultant agency 'Don't Panic' to create a proposal for a 30 second YouTube Viral Advert to promote the ‘Random Acts of Kindness’ Pass-It-On 2016 Charity Campaign. The key demographic are urban youth 16-25. The Purpose of this is to make the advert so good that it will persuade people to join in and pass it on. I had to Think of Two suitable and random ideas for my campaign.
Summary of my Ideas:
Idea 1: We will choose random but popular books for us to put like a fiver or so inside at the first page of the book so whoever comes to collect the book will keep the fiver.
Idea 2: If we see a young looking man or female about in their 20s at a gas or petrol station then we’ll stop by and pay for their petrol or gas.
Idea 3: Buy an earphone or two in packet and jump on a bus and distribute them to teenagers.
We held a focus group for my ideas, I asked a few questions about my ideas and the responses came out really well as I thought otherwise. They all mentioned how idea 1 and 3 is appropriate but hardest in terms of location and actually shooting (filming my advert). I asked whether it appeals to the attended audience and they said yes because idea 1 is in a library and you’ll mostly find students there. Idea 2, yes because we will be looking for a driver that looks quite young at a gas or petrol station and Idea 3 because we will be looking specifically for the students on the bus. They also said the message is clear because I’m not trying to scam them, really I’m doing them a favour that’s why most of my peers said they would post and retweet it because they would want it to happen to them.
This also passes the ASA rules and regulation. s the self-regulatory organisation (SRO) of the advertising industry in the United Kingdom. The ASA is a non-statutory organisation and so cannot interpret or enforce legislation.ASA rules and regulation is when for example there are things in adverts that shouldn’t be there like for example the slim phone one it had a woman in just bras and bikinis at the start putting on the clothes and that’s not needed which is why ASA have banned that ad. ASA can be a variety of things from trying to look more superior to another product or company, going against religion, stereotypes etc.
What will work and what wouldn’t:
My Ideas will work because it’s not too expensive so people wouldn’t mind helping out. It’s about a budget of £15 for all of my Ideas. The props would probably cost and extra £15 more which I would use my own money from that.
I will not use idea 2. The reason being is because We would need permission from the gas station people and they’ll probably make us pay but either way to save all the hassle I won’t do shoot it there.
Idea 3 was taken seriously and well thought by coming from my peers but the whole production seems long as it we’ll have to hire a bus etc. The campaign should be really simple.

Lastly my idea 1 is the one to do it is really simple. Set in the library as cost would probably be cheap.
